Zephyr – Zaffiro. (dal 1939 al 1958)
Lo Zephyr nasce nel 1939 subito dopo l’uscita di produzione del Martin Junior.
Fa parte degli “ assembled frame * ” come il Lightning e lo Champion, ma con una base da 3”.
Quindi molto simile per dimensioni al Martin Junior, si differenzia da quest’ultimo solo per una diversa disposizione meccanica che ricalca l’impianto del Champion, non è errato affermare che lo Zephyr ha sostituito il Martin Junior.
Un controsenso legato a questo tasto è che pur avendo una base più piccola dello Champion, viene fornito della leva di chiusura del circuito, posta al lato del frame.
Lo Zephyr quindi rispetto allo Champion è composto da un maggior numero di componenti, quindi con costi di produzione più elevati, ma nonostante ciò la Vibroplex all’epoca proponeva lo Zephyir ad un prezzo inferiore non solo dello Champion, ma di tutti gli altri bug prodotti.
Nonostante questo, la gente continuò a preferire lo Champion allo Zephyr.
Operativamente parlando è un ottimo tasto, anche se con la base da soli 3” poteva dare l’impressione di un tasto instabile, ma tant’è che per questi motivi oggi non è molto semplice poter aggiungere uno Zephyr alla collezione.
I primi Zephyr prodotti avevano la base con finitura di colore nero ‘crackle’ o goffrato, successivamente la finitura si è modificata in crackle grigio, non vi è la versione De_luxe o Presentation di questo tasto, forse sotto il segno dell’economicità della serie.

The Zephyr was produced in 1939 shortly after the release of the production of the Martin Junior.

A contradiction tied to this key is that despite having a smaller base of the Champion, is provided of the close circuit lever, placed at the side of the frame.
The Zephyr compared to the Champion is composed of a greater number of components, then with higher production costs, but despite this, the Vibroplex proposed this Zephyir at a price lower not only the Champion bug, but is the most economics bug product by Vibroplex.
Despite this, people continued to prefer the Champion instead the Zephyr.
Operationally is a great key, although with the base alone 3 "....
for this, may be could give the impression of a unstable Key, so for this reasons today is not very easy to add a Zephyr to the collection.
The first Zephyr products had the base with black finish 'crackle', then the finish of base has changed in crackle gray, the version De Luxe or Presentation of this Key don’t is product, perhaps under the sign of economy of the series.
